Nick Veliades

Nick joined the MLC Aquatic team as the Head Coach in May 2011. Nick coaches the National Squads and overseas the coaching staff within the club. Nick is a Silver licence coach and is currently in the process of completing his Gold Licence, he also has a Bachelor of Applied Sports Science where his major interests were physiology and biomechanics and has his level 1 Strength & Conditioning certificate.
Nick has coached numerous swimmers to Age National medals and onto junior Australian teams such as the Trans-Tasman Team, Youth Olympic Team & The Junior Pan Pacific Team. Nick was selected on the 2008 Junior Pan Pacific Team as a Team Coach. Nick has been named Victorian Age Group coach of the year and Victorian Open Water coach of the year on numerous occasions.

Sam Ashby
- State Squad Coach
Sam Ashby joined the MLC Aquatic coaching team in June 2013. Sam joins MLC Aquatic as the State Squad Coach after a distinguished career as an Australian swimmer. Sam competed at the 2011 World Championships amongst other events. Sam has previously coached at the Southport Olympic Swimming Club on the Gold Coast as well as the Power Points Masters swimming Club. He is currently doing his degree in Exercise Science & Human Movement at Victoria University and holds a bronze coaching licence. Sam’s experience as a swimmer and industry professional will be invaluable to MLC Aquatic.

Ryan McRoberts
- National Development Squad Coach
Ryan has his American Swimming Coaches Association Level 2 licence and is currently in the process of applying for recognition of prior learning for an Australian Silver licence. He is studying his Masters of Prosthetics and Orthotics at Latrobe University and has a degree in Exercise Science.

Rebecca (Bec) Stone
- Junior Squad Coach
- Mini Squad Coach
Bec has a long swimming history, competing from an early age she has won numerous state medals and has competed at a national level. Bec has been coaching junior swimmers for the past 4 years and has coached numerous swimmers to state championships. Bec is currently studying a Bachelor of Applied Science at university.
