State and State Performance Squad
State Squad has two streams, State Squad and State Performance Squad.
State Squad swimmers train 3-4 sessions per week with 1 gym session & multiple dry land sessions per week. The Squad will be open to Year 11/12 students and University students who have previously competed at a State or National level as well as current State level swimmers aiming to maintain fitness for school swimming and compete at State Championships. Swimmers will be required to do a minimum 3 sessions per week, compete in some competitions and be members of MLC Aquatic.
State Performance Squad
State Squad swimmers train 5-7 sessions per week with 3 gym sessions & multiple dry land sessions per week. Swimmers are generally aged 13 years & older and are expected to attend training and competitions as prescribed by the coach. State Squad swimmers are aiming to make State Championship Finals and heading towards or have National Qualifying Times.

Equipment
Swimmers are expected to have the following equipment - Short blade fins, snorkel, pull buoy, large paddles, kickboard, band, thera-band (small paddles are an optional extra).
Health & Injury Management
With the training loads swimmers in the State Squad are subjected to, it is suggested that swimmers undergo physio screenings, blood tests and health information sessions in order assist with maintaining a healthy injury free body.

It is important for the coach, swimmers and parents to be in constant communication about the squad and swimmers goals and swimmers progress. Squad Fees
Squad fees are charged retrospectively every two months for the full billing period. If a swimmer is absent for two consecutive weeks a fee reduction may be sought with written notification to Carol Osborn. If a swimmer wishes to withdraw from the program four weeks notification is required or the full fee will be charged. Billing months are – August/September, October/November, and December/January, February/March, April/May, June/July.

MLC students - $34.00 per week

State Squad and State Performance Squad can train at any of the offered State Squad sessions as per the Training Schedule, except State Squad members do not attend the Tuesday or Friday training sessions.

MLC Aquatic District SquadDistrict Squad swimmers train between 1 and 4 sessions per week. Swimmers are generally aged 11 years and older. Swimmers can choose to swim 1-2 times per week or 3-4 times per week. There are no obligations to compete or to join MLC Aquatic swimming club however, there will be opportunities to compete if swimmers choose to do so. |
MLC Aquatic Mini SquadMini Squad swimmers train 2 sessions per week. Swimmers are aged 8-10 years and have a desire to further their swimming in a competitive nature. This squad provides an introduction to training for competition and to junior level competitions and novice meets. |
MLC Aquatic Junior SquadJunior Squad swimmers train 2-4 sessions per week with multiple dry land sessions per week. Swimmers are generally aged 9-11 years. Swimmers are expected to join the MLC Aquatic Swimming Club and to compete in District and Club level competitions. |

MLC Aquatic National Development SquadNational Development Squad swimmers train 4-6 sessions per week with 2 gym sessions and multiple dry land session per week. Swimmers are generally aged 11-13 and show a high level of ability in competitive swimming and a strong desire to improve their training and competition performances heading towards National Age qualifying times. |
National and National Performance SquadsNational Squad swimmers train 7-8 sessions per week. National Performance Squad swimmers train 8-9 sessions per week. Both squads have 3 gym sessions and multiple dry land sessions per week. Swimmers are generally aged 14 years and over. Swimmers are expected to make a full commitment to the training and competition schedule as set by the head coach. Swimmers in this group compete at an Australian Age National level or are aiming to qualify for Australian Age or Open National Championships. |
